Featured Player of the Week

what is this?

featured player of the week is a gamer who attends one of our open league gaming events and has done something to make him or her stand out. myself, David Strickland and partner, Nathan Mitchell will  be choosing the featured player. Featured player will remain in the archieve for up to 2 months.

Conor. undefeated guitar hero.. for now

Conor has once again amazed us with his blinding skills on one other  popular game, first it was halo 3 now he has shown us great ability with his guitar hero skills. We have seen a lot of good players rock out on guitar hero over the past OLG events, none of which match up too Conors ability. At the last event he was achieving 99% and even 100% on expert on most of the songs he played. his fingers were moving  so vigorously he almost melted the guitar...we would like a new Guitar please conor. We were stunned by his performance we are almost certain he is unbeatable, or is he? think you can beat him?

will conor be just as skilled with the upcoming " rock band  ", has he got drumming skills and the singing skills who knows?

FPotW 6: liam

liam has been a regular attendee at OLG, he has been selected as this weeks player of the week due to his outstanding halo 3 ffa skills. theres alot to be thought about in an ffa halo 3 game, being able to keep the cursor on you opponents head whilst shooting, strafing or jumping takes skill and practice but  that isn't necessarily what make you a great halo 3 ffa player. running out aimlessly in the battle field with these skills wont win you the game, you have to be clever in how you use those skills, liam will use walls to strafe in between,  use the highest points on the map to have more of an advantage against his rivals, he comes  into battle at the right time to avoid getting caught up in crossfire he also makes himself less visible in a game by standing in the least obvious places and hes got plenty of tricks up his sleave, this makes liam a exceeding good ffa player. liams strafe whilst in a br battle is AMAZING! its almost impossible to keep the cross-hair on his head. we also noticed that his grenades aren't just aimlessly thrown towards his opponents they are bounced cleverly against walls and objects which makes the grenades explode sooner.  there is much you could learn from liams spectacular skills in halo 3, he is one of the top players when it comes to an FFA game. we have also seen great potential in his team game stats, his kills are high aswell as his assists showing that liam is more than just a ffa player. we still have alot to see from liam but so far he has blown us away with his blinding skills on halo 3.

we hope to see liam at our next event as there is halo 3 ffa tournament, OLG believes that he has what it takes to win .

Guitar Hero Monster Paul Davis

A new comer to Open League Gaming should never be underestimated as several of our new comers that came to our last event showed. However, one player truly blew the cob-webs off the sheet of Guitar Hero 3 with his amazing skills, the name, Paul Davis.
Our previous top gamer Jimmy Holdsworth may have some competition in this young gamer as the speed at which he played was truly astounding and he racked up a score that was eye watering enough for even the more experienced Guitar Hero players.
We hope to see Paul again to battle it out against the other top Guitar Hero pros and believe you me, there will be sparks flying off those guitars....or maybe the plastic will melt, another reason to come to our next event! Congratulations to Paul for his brilliant performance and we will see him soon.

FPotW 5: Josh

Top of the table, top of the game.

Several people have contacted me regarding this weeks featured player of the week and it is easy to see why. Josh is an outstanding player who deserves this many times over. He completely dominated up the last event in Halo 3 with his team proving that he is not only a great FFA player but one that can support his own team too. Like Conor, his stats talk for themselves. With 27 kills and just 3 deaths, Josh is what could be best described as a monster at the game.
Here at OLG, we cannot wait to see Josh and his team play once again at Open League Gaming. We would also like to see how he fares against the new comers at OLG at the newest featured game.....Call of Duty 4?
Picture to come soon.

FPotW 4: Conor

Highly rated player and supports his team

Conor attended our last event but his team slayer skills did not show untill the second event. Not only did he lead his team to the highest kill ratio but his individual stats speak for themselves. Conor truly stands out from the crowd, his knowledge of the maps played at OLG as well as his ability to lead his team into a game makes him the easy pick for this featured player of the week.

His stats are truley great as well over a period of two games he only died 3 times with 1 of those being a betrayal. With only 3 deaths he stacked up 31 kills, the only player in the league so far to go over 30 kills as well as having 9 assists.  With stats like these it is easy to see why his team Rio Leigh Good is currently the leader for the Halo 3 league.

not only is conor good at halo 3, he absolutely owns guitar hero! olg hasn't seen anyone better than conor, yet. think you can outplay conor in a game of guitar hero, challenge him to a game here at olg.

We hope to see Conor at the next event, let's see what his opponents can bring to the table. I have a feeling he will still be at the top of the board.

FPotW 3: Sam Keeble

Master Soul Caliber Player from OLG history

For this Player of the week, we have gone back into open league gaming history. This event was held in David's parent's garage. We had our first apperance from Sam Keeble, a master Soul Caliber player. Not only did he do very well at other games including Super Smash Bros. Melee and Mario Kart Double Dash, but he did not loose a single game to anyone at Soul Caliber 2. With his true skill at the game and for going on a winning streak that did not end, our player of the week is definetly Sam Keeble.

Sadly, we do not have a picture of Sam Keeble, only this picture from a few months back.

FPotW 2: James

winner of the halo 3 FFA tournament

James won the halo 3 FFA tournament proving himself not only as a truly good free for all player but also secured himself a place in open league gaming history by winning our very first official tournament.

James entered the open league gaming event as a new comer to our leagues but quickly surpassed this prejudice and won nearly every halo 3 game that he entered. He beat off  very good competition in the form of Nick Hicks and climbed the leader board. His AR skills as well as tactiics won himself the title of open league gaming's best free for all player and we hope to see him again at the next open league gaming event to see if he can hold onto his title.

Watch out next week as we have ourselves a look back into open league gaming's history for our next player of the week.

FPotW 1: Jimmy Holdsworth

Jimmy is an outstanding player at his featured game, guitar hero 3. A self confessed addict of the game, he plays the guitar for his band but says that playing guitar hero does not make him any better at the real thing.

Jimmy's game performance is simply staggering, put him on any difficulty level and he will ace it no problem. Taking on anyone at the last event, Jimmy continued to wow everyone who watched him. Watch this space, I would like him to be on my Rock Band team anyday of the week, but for this week he is on Featured Player. Congratulations Jimmy, you will be informed of your prize.

Next week we will announce the Featured Player of the Week, but as a special. January 26th is our next big event and I will be on the look out for any special talent or of anything that amazes the crowds. Sadly for Jimmy, a player can only be selected once. I hope to see some Wii talent but my attention will be mainly placed on the "Pro Lounge" where some of the best of British will be fighting it out for the crown of Halo 3 campion of Suffolk.
